Farewell Mr Wilson

I woke up this morning, and scrolled my Facebook feed, as has become the norm.

I was to be informed of the death of a former high school teacher of mine. I only ever had him for one or two semesters, as he taught graphic design (back in the days of set squares and fine liners). My focus during those middle school years (and VCE) was on science and PE, so didn’t spend a lot of time on arty subjects, which I regret a little now, given I never completed my higher education studies in the sciences anyway!

Anyhow, I was greatly saddened by this man’s death. He lived around the corner from me, and his house backed onto the house we are renovating (mum’s house). I would often see him out shuffling, in his oversized crocs.

He must have walked miles and miles. I don’t spend a lot of time at home or in the front garden, but I would see him frequently. There was often a smile and hello, as he walked on by.

Seeing him walk so much was inspiring, and I think helped me in some ways to kickstart my walking. If he could do it, I could do it.

Farewell Mr Wilson.
